How Distraction Happens…

Distraction happens in small increments. It happens each time we allow a tiny space between us and what God calls righteous. It thrives when we have one more minute here, and one more word there, in places that take us from God.

We lose ourselves in small compromises of our character. Distraction is not staring at things of God, it is glancing away for moments at a time, at things that shift your character.

How do we know what is a distraction? Discernment convicts us of what is and is not of God. The Holy Spirit mirrors the Word of God in us. Knowing the Word reminds us of God’s nature. Together these give us discernment to recognize what is and is not of God and what are distractions.
